Chess Systems integrates lasers for use in different applications:

Chess has experience with Nd:YAG diode, lamp pumped, and CO2 lasers.

Depending on the application, Chess Systems can provide manual or fully automated handling solutions for laser applications.

- 'Iris' Through the Lens -
Unique to Chess is the ability to use 'Through The Lens' (TTL) machine vision to determine galvo offset. Because the camera is looking in the same plane as the laser beam the accuracy is far better than having the camera separate.

The client required Chess to automatically feed jedec trays past a laser to mark all devices. "Through the lens" vision is used to locate the bottom line of pre-printed text. The derived position is used to drive the laser to mark the device in a designated position.

Vision software enables devices of varying surface finish and character contrast to be accurately located without re-teaching the system.
